DELTA NEWS HUB: Delta, Junior Achievement partner at National Summit showcasing student entrepreneurial creativity

More than 70 high school students attended the Junior Achievement National Student Leadership Summit in Washington, D.C., sponsored by Delta.

Student teams demonstrated their business acumen, creativity and entrepreneurial thinking in a competitive environment at a national level by showcasing their companies to Members of Congress and business leaders.

The Delta Social Impact Workshop presented by Delta's On-Board and Airport Marketing team exposed students to Delta's on-board and airport products and services. Students learned how Delta is improving the customer experience, developing standards and differentiating itself from the competition from curb to claim. They were given a case study and asked to invest in or develop a new product that will not only enhance the airport or on-board experience for customers, but do so in a way that provides a positive impact to society — environmentally, socially, and/or economically.

Alpha Necessities, from JA of South Florida, won the Delta Social Impact Award for their "Car Can" product, which is made from recycled material and fits in a vehicle's cup holder to provide a container to disregard trash.  Alpha Necessities will provide a portion of their proceeds to "Keep America Beautiful."

Junior Achievement inspires and prepares young people, K-12th grade, to succeed in a global economy. All programs align with Junior Achievement's core performance standards, teaching students about financial literacy, entrepreneurship and workforce readiness while equipping them with the tools to be personally and professionally successful.

Delta has partnered with over 30 Junior Achievement Chapters through various programs including job shadows, Company of the Year program in Latin America, volunteering at Biz Town and Finance Park, and working with students in the classroom.
